nuts

for those of you who watch the american version of the office, remember the office olympics episode? pam was commenting on how jim gets when he's excited about something and how that doesn't happen often. lately, i've been having that feeling at work...a lot more than usual. the result is that the idea for something pointless but silly will pop into my head and i'll have this urgent compulsion to see it through, even if i know it won't amuse others anywhere near as much as it amuses me. but every once in awhile i do amuse others, so i must brag when i have the chance.

please witness my handiwork.

the background:
the company that makes these chocolates changes the picture on the box in order to be seasonal. a few months ago it was daffodils (to be spring-y i guess). this time it was this bizarre picture of "cocoa beans in a cocoa pod" which is, of course, relevant but not terribly appetizing, namely because no one would know what the picture was if it wasn't labeled. we had fun using it as a rorschach test. someone said it looked like some sort of fruit. i think it looks either like a grub or single-celled organisms under a microscope.

anyway, on sunday i got to contemplating what the picture should be and once the idea was there, it had to be done. fifteen minutes and two google image searches later, i had finished my masterpiece of workplace frivolity. i knew that the above-linked blogger would be the first one to see it the next morning. she is not exactly jewish, but comes from jews so i knew she'd be appreciative.

when i leave my job, this will be my legacy, along with the magnetic poetry i made from bumper stickers. as pam said, "i think i can have a career as a very specific type of decorator."

Can I commission "Sluts and Jews"?

i'm sure a google image search for sluts would have some priceless results.

XD

There are loads of Hasidic Jews in Mile End. In fact, I live right next to some. I wonder if the product would sell at the Kasher Meat Market next to the bagel shop.
