i laugh at your pain

it's funny when my baby cries. is that a horribly cold thing for a parent to say?

i'm not talking about when she hurts herself or when she's sick or has bad gas. that's the sniffly, heartbreaking kind of crying that makes it impossible not to hold her and try to make it all better. but the way she cries when she's fussy and tired is, quite frankly, hilarious. Steve mused that the corners of her mouth turn down so far that she looks like Beaker. observe:

Steve started calling this Muppet Mouth and so Muppet became a new nickname for Abi when she's fussing. then the term morphed from a physical attribute into a state of being, so i'll find myself referring to her mood as Muppet or On the Verge of Muppet. today was a full-on Muppet day, but that's alright, because she's sleeping soundly now. and besides, she's still too young to take offense if i laugh at her.

i love this. i will try not to laugh at your baby, but at least now if she makes that face with me i will be a little less stressed. for her first words, can you teach her to say "meemeemeep?"
